This paper examines the challenges and strategies
involved in enhancing safety in stationary battery and
energy storage systems to comply with regulatory and
safety standards in Europe. As the demand for energy
storage systems continues to grow, ensuring the safety
of these systems is paramount to protect both people
and property. The paper reviews the current regulatory
landscape in Europe pertaining to stationary energy
storage systems and identi昀椀es key safety standards that
must be met. Various factors impacting the safety of these
systems are analyzed, including thermal runaway, hazards,
and environmental considerations. Case studies and best
practices from the industry are presented to illustrate
successful safety implementations. The paper concludes
with recommendations for stakeholders to achieve and
maintain compliance with safety standards in stationary
battery and energy storage systems, promoting a safer
and more sustainable energy future.
